With over 15 years experience as a therapist, I have seen many people "right" themselves during critical and painful times of their lives. People often come to therapy in distress and confusion, unsure how to manage their current life circumstances or overwhelmed by symptoms related to emotional pain. I hold a belief that true healing comes from within and that is often where the alarm bells ring. Sometimes there are signs quietly trying to get your attention and other times it comes as a crisis. Sometimes it is others that are calling for you to change. Many different circumstances bring people and families to a therapist or coach and each of these situations are unique. My training is in psychodynamic psychotherapy, however additionally I use a blend of approaches in my work with individuals. These include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), building on inherent strength and resiliency, working on shifting thought and belief systems that are self-defeating, building coping and mindfulness skills, bringing clarity and moving towards a life that brings true satisfaction. Additionally I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for treatment of trauma. I have an interactive and flexible style. Some of the issues common to my practice are:
- Anxiety Disorders
- Depression and other Mood Disorders
- Substance Abuse
- Grief and Loss
- Trauma
- ERP Treatment for OCD
- Self-Esteem Improvement
- Alcoholism, Addictions and Recovery
- Stress Management
- Life Transitions
- Relationship Difficulties and Relationship Improvement
- Family Conflict
